The League of Women Voters believes that educating and empowering the youth of our country is vital to maintaining democracy. Each year, leagues from all over New York State select High school students interested in civics and government to participate in the students in Albany Program. It is a four-day training experience in which students attend workshops and presentations on the operations of state government and how policy is shaped and enacted and have the opportunity to observe the NYS Assembly and Senate in session, as well as shadow their local legislators for a day. This May, 60 students attended statewide. This year the LWVCN and the Nassau County Interleague Organization and LWVCN sponsored 3 students from Westbury High School. We were pleased to have those students with us during our Annual Dinner on June 30, 2023, to share highlights of their experience. Our 2023 Student in Albany were
Mr. Jordan Ramirez-Lopez
Mr. Sage Sylvester
Mr. Grant Boylan
We look forward to their civic participation in the future.
