The State Board of Elections met and approved changes to the voter registration form and affidavit voter registration application to allow for registrants to provide their email address.
This is something Citizens Union as well as other groups on this email chain have long advocated. The resolution passed by the State Board will enable the City Board and City Campaign Finance Board to implement the provisions of Int. No. 613 (Dickens) which both entities have already begun to do administratively.
Because the Board and CFB will now have emails voluntarily provided by new registrants, voters will be more easily notified of deadlines for receipt of absentee ballots, reminders about upcoming elections, opportunities to work as poll workers, changes to poll sites, and military voters will be able to more easily receive ballots via email. You can learn more when you download your copy of the Proposed Resolution-Voter Registration packet.
